Salt Lake Vocal Artists and Brady R. Allred

Salt Lake Vocal Artists ( SLVA) has quickly garnered international acclaim for technical mastery and diverse repertoire, ranging from music of the Renaissance to the 21st century. In 2010—the choir’s inaugural season—SLVA earned four First Prizes and a special Audience Choice Award at the 42nd Abesbatza Lehiaketa International Choral Competition in Tolosa, Spain. In 2011, SLVA was one of only twenty-five choirs—and the only American choir—to perform at the World Choral Symposium in Argentina. SLVA also traveled by invitation to Italy to compete in the Arezzo International Choral Competition, where it won five First Prizes and was featured at the Concordia Vocis International Festival of Vocal Music in Cagliari, Sardinia. In Song and Shade: Celebrating Wendell Berry in Music is the choir’s third album.

Artistic Director and conductor of the Salt Lake Vocal Artists, Dr. Brady R. Allred has developed an international reputation as a choral director, clinician, and adjudicator. Trained at the Eastman School of Music, Allred has served as director of choral studies at the University of Utah, director and conductor for the Butler Symphony Orchestra, director of choral activities at Duquesne University, and artistic director and conductor of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh. He has been a guest conductor for the Schumann Chamber Orchestra, the Wroclaw Philharmonic, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and others. Allred has also performed with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers and the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus.
